It's good because it will allow Bilic to fix the team, hopefully. Before there were very few friendlies and changes and the competition figured out the team and strategy. Do friendlies count for FIFA ranking?

thanks for the update. However, I think Fifa goofed as I dont think Croatia will play 4 games in 10 days. If we get confirmation from Croatian media then we will add this to the calendar. Keep them coming.
why would you list Crvena Jabuka concerts, since they are being promoted by serbs on their tour of N.America.

Don't even start because I asked the same question and was ostracized from the group for the rest of the night. Here were some famous quotes:
"That was 20 years ago, so what if they supported the serbs? That was then, this is now."
"You have no proof, it's just people talking shit."
"Keep politics out of it, they're a great band. Who cares who's organizing?"
"Even the Hrvati in Hrvatska don't care."
"You can't blame an organization for doing something 20 years ago that they thought was just and correct."
Keep in mind these were Hrvati asking me this. You may now pick your jaw up from the floor. Let them shovel the $60 over to the bosnians.
I just don't understand why it would be posted on this website. Wearing a cro jersey into that concert would likely result in a fight taking place.

I just got back in town from San Diego, literally just walked into the front door.
Crvena Jabuka is a band loved by many Croatians before the war, during the war and after the war. This is just a simple calendar showing all the concerts, Croatians might be interested in attending.
Crvena Jabuka is not Thompson. There is no point in wearing a Croatian jersey to this concert. Just as wearing a Serbian or Bosnian shirt would cause heads to turn.

First of all, sorry for singling you out Ante BBB, I should have looked closer. Ziva, Croatia only has a handful of actual 'bands'. Crvena Jabuka, Daleka Obala and Prljavo Kazaliste. How many more am I missing here? Not lots.
Crvena Jabuka play good, fun, energetic music. I've seen them before in the States and I've seen them in Croatia. It's a good show and their music is not war driven and super-nationalistic like Thompson. I'm frankly sick of it already.
Obviously we are using music as the center and symbol of this discussion. My issue with the whole Croat, Serb, Bosnian debate is that it's 2010 now. The war has been over for 15 years. I understand that there are still social tensions between the three people's for obvious reasons but when does the hatred stop? I'm not saying to go out of your way for these people but we can at least treat them in a neutral manner.
When I go back to Croatia, I've talked to family members and their friends who were soldiers in Croatia's fight for independence. Talking about the war is the last thing they want to do and they deflect any questions asked about it. Yes, these are scarred people but they also have to live their lives now. They're not going out of their way to bash Serbs or Bosnians.
My father's house was burned down by Cetnici and my cousin's was hit by tons of shrapnel. We were the defenders in the war, not the aggressors. We (Croatia) did our job, gained independence and rebuilt. It's now 15-20 years later and there is more hate stateside than there is in Europe. I see plenty of Croatians go to Serbia for concerts etc. and they come back without a scratch.

Who gives a shit who's promoting them? If it's a Serb or Prince of Bhutan. What's the difference. If they did in fact set up the show, good for them, at least they're getting shit done instead of bitching what happened two decades ago. America fought England 200 years ago, now they are best buddies.
My question to both ziva istina and ante bbb is this:
When or if you have kids, will you share all these stories of our fathers and the war with them? Will you teach them to hate Serbs and turn your back on them at every opportunity? Is this the world you want your kids to be raised in?
If the answer is yes, that's pathetic.
In the end, all this talk coming from kids born in North America and Australia for example always lead to the same motive. I see Croatians stateside raised this way mildly but they embrace the hatred because that defines their Croatianism. Ex. if you don't hate a Serb and talk bad about Serbs that you are not a true Croatian because of the lack of language skills most kids have outside Croatia have. We are what we are. Most of us are in pretty cool bi-cultural situations. We can mix between two countries comfortably.
Croatians worldwide have the 'we're gonna et screwed anyways' attitude in life. That nothing will go our way. It's true. Once one little bad thing happens we go completely on tilt and just start blaming others. Let's get over it already. We are solid as a unit and pound for pound the best supporters in the world. There's only 12 million of us worldwide. We need to learn to unite instead of taking the 'everyone for themselves' approach. Look at business and commerce in Croatia. It's horrible because there is no trust and people are jealous of anyone with a hint of success.
We should be inheriting the good traits from our culture, not the bad. With all the education and knowledge we have being raised here, there's no excuse.

From one North American-born Croat to another, very well said.
My parents endured the horrors of WWII and were fortunate enough to make their way to Toronto to establish new lives. For the most part, they avoided talking about the conflict and hatred. While I was always curious why they didn't share more of their history with me, I think it was probably, in the grand scheme of things, better that they didn't. Instead, I have done my homework and managed to learn the history in a much more dispassionate, and yes, objective, manner.

As for your question..... No, I will not teach my kids to hate serbs. They might or might not learn that on their own, as I did. I, however, will teach them to avoid and turn their back to serbs. I deal with the evil fuckers at times because of business and I have a very professional relationship with them. But, outside of works hours, I will not socialize with them.
You mentioned the war, not me. Lets not forget it was the serbs and our forced association with them that led us to war in the first place. History has shown that nothing good comes with the serbs.
Answer: no, they'll learn on their own like I did.
Have any of you been to Vukovar? Then you'll understand why I am the way I am; I'm not a 'genocidni ustaša' but I refuse to forget what my family fought for in the Domovinski Rat..and back in 1941.
Go have fun at Crvena Jabuka with all of the other Bosnians, Serbians and Croatians who turn a blind eye to everything. I mean, who cares? Enjoy giving your hard earned money to an organization that openly supported and funded the Milosevic regime and serbian war effort that destroyed Croatia. Oh I forgot, you're sick of that talk. Let me go turn off Thompson, maybe he's too loud. After all, I love going to Croatian events organized by Croatians.
